Pumpkin Hunting

A rare shot of all of us. Crazy. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Sure, we look satisfied to have picked out some great pumpkins. But it's a process...

First is the initial scramble. When you get there you immediately run to the pile of "good" pumpkins. Even though all these are great pumpkins, clearly we still head to the field to sort through all the rotten ones.

After we've decided to not get any of the good pumpkins up front, you survey the land. You know, what's out here? What all exactly can we do?

And that's when you go check and see how much taller you are than the year before.

Of course there are tender moments to be shared with the chickens.

Then you head to the field. On a cold day you gots to have your mittens right.

It's important to get a big one. But not too big.

Maybe this one will do...nah.

Keep looking. Don't ever stop looking.

Finally you find one, and you sit next to it and reflect on a successful day.

Then obviously you pick out another one. You know there are two of us.

Before you go you act like a carny posing with things like this.

And there you have it, a successful pumpkin hunt.

Fancy Sweaters

Twice a year they take our pictures at school. You would think with a look like this they would want to do it even more often than that.

We call this the teapot.

You know I'm four now, so this really isn't even all that interesting to me anymore.

Colin is not tired of it, in fact he seemed a little depressed Dad wasn't taking any pictures of him.

But oh boy was excited the next day when it was his picture day.

It's like he thinks he should be in magazines. Always smiling. When he's four he'll get it.

For now though it's all about fancy shoes and designer jeans.

Hey Dad, get one of my funny face.

Now my serious face.

Now take one like you just saw me walking by and I paused for a quick photo op.

It just looks like we have fun, really, we're the most miserable boys in the world.

Colin Bo Bolin, Banana Fanna Fo Folin

We promised you more of me. And here I am. Green shirt, green ball. Future Green Jacket.

Here I am explaining to Dad that if he's going to take all these pictures he needs to do something with them. And that the Royals are #1.

The neighborhood picnic officially signaled the end of the picnic season for us. Don't tell Great Grandma that we think this quilt is perfect for picnics!

Sometimes you just don't feel that good.

Sometimes you feel really good.

We have a lot of toys. Choosing between a rake and a baseball bat is not easy. Although Dad said that I was "raking" with the bat. I don't know, he's weird.

Grady's rocket is the coolest....preparing for launch.

Blast off!!!!

Let's see that in motion.

Back to the raking.

That grass looks way worse in person. Unless you like clover, which Grady does. I could care less.

Yes, I'm cooking up something delicious. No, I'm not going to clean up the huge mess.

As younger brother, I get all of Grady's old stuff. He of course got a new winter coat.

And now, a concert by Grady Owen.

"Twinkle, Twinkle" by Grady & Grandma Ginny.

"Life is but a Twinkle" by Grady & Grandma Ginny

AND NOW, Deep Thoughts by Grady Owen.

Scene Setting: Driving to church explaining to Grady he would be in children's church which is kind of like a classroom.

G: Mom, when I get big I want to go to your school and be in your class.

M: (paraphrased) Well, you probably won't be in my class. Mommy teaches speech and you already know how to how to do everything that I do in my classroom.

G: Well I don't know EVERYTHING, I don't know how to row a BOAT.

Fourth Birthday Extravaganza

As you know, I turned four. Of course it was a week-long celebration. Lots of my friends came out to my party and we had the best time ever.

Poor Harrison, odd man out at the table. But don't worry, he got some cake.

Strollin' with some of my best buds, Emmy and Keely. And of course Blaine a couple steps ahead.

Emmy, Blaine and me were very excited when Keely showed up.

If you think those ducks are funny, you should see the fish that are trying to beat the ducks to the food!

As we did last year, I took Dad to a Royals game for my birthday. I mean let's not kid ourselves, I was in charge.

Here I am getting ready to make my debut on the Little K.

Let's just say I didn't exactly dominate in (or should I say out of) the batter's box. Clearly it was bad pitching. But I did have a great time.

On the carousel. We're up to four tokens if you're keeping score.

My mini golf talents are well-documented. Here I am lining up a hole-in-one. You probably think I'm kidding. But I'm not. I did get a hole-in-one.

And we're out of here. And the Royals won!

And what about Colin? Where do we start? He's insisting on doing this lately. We don't know what to think, we just let him do what he wants. More on him next time.

So Long 3

When you see me next I'll be 4. On my last night being 3 I ate outside and pondered life and the mess I had just made with sidewalk chalk.

Dance Party has pretty much been the theme lately. Here, we pause for a photo op in the middle of dancing... dancing unbelievably we should say.

School closed up last Friday. Well guess what, the joke's on them because Grandma came over and we like that better anyway.

One of those "hey daddy, hey daddy, hey daddy, take my picture, I'm a green burrito" times. I'm sure this happens at your house also.

Meet "Mr. G." Unfortunately Dad and me didn't get to keep it.

Also, I didn't get to keep this pencil thin mustache. Because it's really oreos. Man do I love some oreos.
When I'm 4, expect me to get probably one hundred strong. I know, you're saying 'but Grady, you are already strong.' You are right, I am.
